That’s 200-300 people in the pool/patio area. Yesterday there were two at the same time - one very large/one small. Sunday, 2/3 through our visit and we’ve now seen our 4th wedding/event since Friday - and there’s a set up for one more.

Not just with hotel guests, because certainly, you can’t fault a hotel for being at full capacity, but I’m writing this on. You pay a lot for all of this, and this isn’t a complaint about the prices. First, the wonderful… the views speak for themselves. We were here August 2016, almost exactly 6 years ago. This is my family’s second visit to the Montage Laguna Beach. Importantly, Management went out of their way to make our experience special and we appreciated it very much, it truly did make a big difference in our family’s stay- thank you!!!… Even for a luxury beach resort I still find $1890 per night for a standard room a bit steep. Paintbox- our kids did paintbox (the kids camp) and we specifically asked (multiple times) for the counselors to keep our kids outside on the terrace or at outdoor activities and the counselors agreed and said that would not be a problem, but when we came to check on them, one of our kids was indoors watching tv- not thrilled about that. The yoga classes were great and love that they can be done outside when the studio doors are open. The lobby issue was offset by the opening of the big glass doors to the ocean.
The only inconviences due to weddings was the crowded lobby, and valet, which was very backed up due to the huge influx of guests coming and going 3 days in a row. But given that we would have probably booked anyway, it didnt make much of a difference in our stay. Concierge- called them before visiting and on multiple occasions asked if there were weddings during the weekend of our visit, was told “none that I know of” but when we arrived there were weddings friday saturday and sunday! Given that this seems to be the norm at this hotel at this time of year, I found her response (will not call out the individual concierge’s name here) somewhat misleading and disingenuous. Beach and pool staff were fast friendly and efficient making both locals a pleasure to visit. Didnt eat at the Thalay pop up because kids were not into the menu but wish we had because it looked amazing! Love the pop- up idea with Thai food! And the setting was gorgeous. Delicious treat! Smores at sunset was a favorite with real wood burning fire and staff to help out as needed- which many hotels with smores do not have.
Turn down chocolates were so special- each night two hand made truffles in different flavors. Beds- extra comfortable even for a luxury hotel. The entire staff was super helpful and well trained on providing a luxury experience. This is a beachfront resort that is great for access to pools and beach with great service.
